So here is a remarkable place with a remarkable history. It is the Boott Cotton Mills located in Lowell, Massachusetts (the National Historic Park). We had the pleasure of spending a day literally working on the line and exploring the difficult conditions of young women and eventually immigrants who came to this city beginning in the 1830's, seeking a new and better life but being thrust into horrific working conditions in these textile mills. The hours were unbearable, the work monotonous and tedious, the thunder of the looms deafening and the flying bits of textile fibers deadly.
The history of the place is beautifully preserved but it also challenges its visitors to think about how workers are treated today. Where were your jeans made, for example, and why so affordable? What were the politics and economics of the time that created a ripe environment for exploitation and how can this continue today? A very provocative and interesting series of exhibits that we highly recommend checking out if ever in the Boston area!

Pencils vs. Pens

Questions, questions...
So, here's another one for you, which is better pencils or pens? Why? State your opinion and reasons why.

Pencil Pros:

Pencils are erasable which makes very handy for younger children and active writers.

Pen Pros:

Pens are very official. They write smoother and are don't need to be sharpened.

So, which is better? and why don't people say 'The pencil is mightier than the sword.'

What's you opinion?

Hi all, I have a very important question...

Which is better... the computer, or the Typewriter?

Pros:
Both of these are very useful. The Typewriter you can write all the letter you want. The computer you can write, surf the web and much more!

Cons:
The typewriter has only a limit of things you can do, the computer is bad for you to stare at-which is what you often end up doing because computers are so addictive-.

If you are able to please comment on this post and tell me which is better... while you're at it, what came first , the chicken or the egg?

My orginazation

I am interested in helping the world. (From the last post I'm sure you can guess who I am.) So, I started an organization called See a Smile C A SMILE for short. See a Smile is a great organization that uses your money to give to needy organizations. As you see, we have a good cause. At the moment See a Smile is trying to organize a country wide jumpathon where people let other people know about a certain date that they jump rope on. So you see what C A smile's about, more later!

The Enviroment

Hi all,
Long time no see! Rather, long time no blog!
I, family child speaking, have been thinking. What have I been thinking about? Well, for one thing global warming. I was thinking about how little some people care, right? You know, because a lot of people aren't doing anything about global warming. So I thought why not tell people about how horrid they are capable of being? (Though it's not like I'm perfect!) So, I'll tell you:
"You should be informing people about global warming! Don't just sit there and watch as the world slowly fades away. Don't just look at the dying polar bears, scrambling to get onto an iceberg that won't melt and float away! So do something, PLEASE! Here, I'll help you out
  • Carpool, walk, bike, scooter, skateboard, rip stick, etc. do anything to use less gas.
  • Hang your laundry to dry! (Don't use drying machine. It uses up too much energy.)
  • Try out staycations! (Planes give off too much exhaust.)
  • Instead of using paper or plastic plates while having a party, try glass or porcelain.
  • Reduce!!! (This is one of the 3 R's. Reducing is important because... well in normal words, big things are overrated!
  • Reuse!!! (This is the second of the 3 R's. Reusing is important because -also in simple words- everything can have an unknown purpose!
  • Recycle!!! (This is the last of the 3 R's. Recycling is great, because it's a better way of getting rid of things. Also, it's one step closer to people reusing for you!!

So all in all, those were some tips!!! PLEASE USE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know that sounded kind of demanding."

Well, goodbye for now ( I have to go save the world),

Move over brother !

Hi I am the other family cat. I will tell you about me IF you don't step on me. First thing's first I am a scardy cat. Now I love naps, sunbeams, and food oh yeah I LOVE FOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also like to wack my brother in the face, when he comes back from the vet and smells weird. Over in the picture thats me in front with my eyes open, and that's my brother, how he slept through that little box thing with the bright flash, I don't know! Well anyway it's almost time to eat so I should get out of here!!!!!! Good- Bye

My family

Hi, I am the one of family cats. My name is Clyde. My owners are very nice people, they feed me, play with me, and clean my litter box. If there was anything else that life required, besides naps and sunbeams, I would have it. Now speaking of naps I gotta' go because I have some sleep to catch up on... Actually I'll stay and chat a little longer. Say you wanna' know how to make a really good cat toy? All you do is give me a shoe! Hey that rhymes! See I'm a really smart cat, I even figured out that if you scratch on the door, your owners might let you out! Well that's all for now because my sister wants to write now. TTYL Guess what? That's slang for Talk To You Later.

Why "Threading Sound"

Not that all my family members will agree, but I thought I'd say what I hear in our blog title. First, place: we live in a place associated with thread and near a sound. You can only start where you are! Second, avocations: we love to sing, threading the sounds of our voices together. We also love the written word, threading sounds together visually and orally. And two of us (the other two) love working with fiber. I hear the sound of knitting needles threading. And vocation: Two of us thread sound for a living, but in very different ways.

Because one of us is a child, we're trying to keep this personally not identifiable to strangers but still interesting. Maybe that requires a certain enigmatic style?

Now, off to bedtime sounds!

J

Welcome to Threading Sound

Hello, this is a family blog. We will tell you stories, jokes, time consumers, and hopefully more. This is our first post and we hope you enjoy the rest of this blog!!!
